Saatva, a leader in the direct-to-consumer sleep industry, is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager with expertise in AWS development technologies and best practices. In this role, you will lead a diverse technical team using Agile methodologies to deliver on both customer-facing and internal projects, ranging from storefront and user experience enhancements to logistics, delivery, and DevOps infrastructure. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will foster a positive and productive team culture while providing mentorship and driving accountability to meet business objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, mentor, train, and hire engineers across multiple teams
  • Use Agile practices to coach teams and facilitate ceremonies
  • Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and manage compensation
  • Communicate technical and strategic concepts to business stakeholders
  • Manage vendors, consultants, and contracts to meet business objectives
  • Translate business needs into actionable engineering tasks and processes
  • Partner with Product Management and Design to enhance engineering output
  • Identify opportunities for engineers' career growth and development
  • Collaborate with HR to foster a positive employee experience
  • Create and nurture an inclusive, high-performance work environment

What You Will Need

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in a technical software engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience as a hiring manager
  • Expertise in AWS development technologies and best practices

Personal Characteristics:

  • Business-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lead and represent technical teams with confidence
  • Eagerness to provide creative, timely solutions to challenges
  • Open to diverse opinions and personalities

Nice to Have:

  • BS in Computer Science
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Adobe Commerce), logistics, and/or financial systems
  • Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React
